Title: what to look for when purchasing a new Scissor and expected price ranges.

1- Importance of

Steel quality. 

 Better steel quality equals longer edge retention and superior cut quality.

 

Good, Premium, Best

-What is considered good quality of steel and most affordable.

 

 A-Good : Japanese 440 C

Price range $100-$300

 

B-Premium classes of scissors: 

VG1, VG 10

Very high steel quality usually starting at $300 -$400 and up

 

C-Best 

Hitachi 

A-440C

B- ATS-314

 

D- True dry cuts are

 typically ATS 314 steel quality

Expected -Price range $250-$1000

 

2- importance of Length of scissor 

-Preferably you want to have at least a 5 1/2 which is a very standard length of scissor and then you 

Also want a 6” for Barber cuts and for scissor over comb.

 

-Eventually you may want to try a 6.5”or 7” as you get more comfortable and -experience.
